Update from Energy Transfer – May 28, 2025

Last week, we successfully installed three recovery wells on Glenwood Drive, as planned and communicated with residents. We now have a total of four recovery wells strategically placed to assist in recovering petroleum product from the groundwater. We were pleased to be able to complete the installation of all three wells last week before Memorial Day Weekend, and we thank the township for their support in helping us make this happen. We also greatly appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding while the work was being done. After installation, we immediately began to recover jet fuel.

We are now working with the township on a schedule of activities associated with the newly installed recovery wells. Beginning Wednesday, June 4, there will be a partial road closure on Glenwood Drive while crews perform testing in the newly installed recovery wells. To do this work, personnel and equipment will be located at each of the three wellheads. Equipment will consist of a small generator, a pump and hose and a pickup truck. To test each recovery well, personnel will pump liquids from the well into a small tank in the bed of the pickup truck, before properly disposing the liquids offsite. We anticipate this work being completed by end of day Thursday, June 5, barring weather and other factors.

If you’d like more information about the recovery wells and the installation process, our Recovery Well Installation Work Plan is available on our incident website here. It is also available on Upper Makefield Township’s website, and we are happy to make a hard copy available in our Community Support Center for anyone interested.
