As part of our ongoing site investigation and characterization work, we will begin mobilizing and drilling several monitoring wells in the Mt. Eyre neighborhood, starting the week of July 21. These monitoring wells will be used to evaluate groundwater quality as part of our continued site investigation and characterization work. The work is being completed under the oversight of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection in accordance with the Act 2 regulations, as part of our response to the pipeline release.
Over the next several weeks, Sunoco Pipeline LP’s contractors will be installing the monitoring wells, which includes drilling similar to the activities observed during the installation of the recovery wells in June. During this work, sound walls will be installed around each drilling site as appropriate to mitigate noise. Road signage and traffic control (i.e., flaggers) will be deployed in a similar manner to the traffic control that occurred during the installation/drilling of the recovery wells in June. Residents will observe drilling equipment and support vehicles in the neighborhood during this work, and drilling equipment may remain on site overnight.
Drilling activities will be conducted between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday (note that equipment setup and site cleanup may occur outside of this time frame, as approved by Upper Makefield Township).
