Upcoming Work in Mt. Eyre Neighborhood – Electrical Geophysical Survey

Energy Transfer remains committed to the cleanup and restoration of the Mt. Eyre neighborhood. As part of our continued site investigation and characterization, we will be conducting a Mise-a-la-Masse electrical geophysical survey in the neighborhood next week. This geophysical survey is designed to further refine the evaluation and mapping of geological fractures beneath the Mt. Eyre Neighborhood.

Work is tentatively scheduled to begin Tuesday, Jan. 13, and be completed by Friday, Jan. 23.

Mise-a-la-Masse surveys involve lowering an electrode carrying a very low amperage current into certain previously installed monitoring wells and recovery wells identified by the project team.

This is a non-destructive, non-intrusive process with minimal foot traffic, and the electrical signals used are not harmful to people or buried structures and will be imperceptible to humans and other animals. As the field survey progresses, you will see a pair of workers walking through properties surrounding the wells being studied, holding the PVC poles and stopping periodically to take measurements.

In the specific areas where survey profiles cross roadways, we will string the cables beneath yellow cable protectors across the asphalt, similar to a small, temporary speed bump. In addition, safety cones will be adjacent to the cable protector locations.
